Queen’s Hotel is a Grade II Listed building in Southport and is a relatively unaltered example of a mid-Victorian seaside hotel.
We have undertaken a variety of works at the hotel commencing in 2019 and in 2021 received further instruction to carry out secondary glazing work to the windows. Two apprentices worked on this project and went on to complete qualifications in joinery and bricklaying.
Works included:
- Removal of render and a re-render to elevations
- Brickwork repairs
- Repair and replacement of timber roof battens
- Restoration and replacement of Glendyne slates
- Replacement of lead valley and eave gutters to pitched roof valleys, flat roof valleys, roof parapet copings and lead lined gutters.
- Lift and re-bed ridge and hip tiles with a sand and cement mortar mix to match existing
- Replacement of timber windows and repairs where necessary
- Redecoration of balustrading
- Secondary glazing works, involving removal of existing glazing, repairs to sash windows and installation of new secondary glazing.
