Works were carried out at French Connection, Newcastle in mid 2017. The site is located on Grainger Street, a busy shopping area in the city centre of Newcastle. Grainger street is home to some of Newcastle’s finest buildings built by Richard Grainger between 1824 and 1841.
The scaffold over the entrances was erected out of hours to ensure the store could continue to operate as normal. As the roof repairs were carried out above the store room filled with clothing, temporary roof coverings were used to prevent any water ingress onto stock held in the room.
Works included:
• Erect scaffold
• Stone repairs and repointing
• Roof repairs including lead repairs and replacement
• Removal and re-bedding on ridge and hip tiles
• Isolated slate replacement
