A quadriga is a chariot pulled by four horses abreast. In mythology the chariot is driven by gods and heroes with Apollo, god of the sun, often depicted driving his chariot across the sky, bringing daylight with him. The quadriga later became a symbol of triumph and victory and was even depicted on ancient Roman coins. Quadrigas adorn many structures all over the world today, including the Wellington Arch in London and the Arch of Peace in Milan.
